Probably for the first time in history, the annual Ambubachi Mela at Kamakhya temple in Guwahati will be held without any pilgrim.The fair which is held every year witnesses the conglomeration of over 20 lakh devotees not only from India but across the globe. The devotees assemble in and around Nilachal Hills atop of which is the famous shakti peeth Kamakhya temple is situated. The Kamakhya temple committee this time has sealed all entry and exit points in Nilachal Hills, engaging temple security staff along with police and paramilitary forces not allowing any pilgrim or vehicle in the area. The temple committee came up with the decision of not holding the annual Ambubachi taking into concern the COVID 19 pandemic. Only the main priests of the temple will conduct the rituals of Ambubachi fair inside the temple which will be held from 22nd to 25th June. The temple committee has appealed to all its devotees around the world not to come to Guwahati this time for this fair as not a single devotee will be allowed to come near Kamakya temple. Watch!
