Ah, to infinity and beyond we go as we talk about why you may barely remember Buzz Lightyear of Star Command. A show that would give us a look into the real Buzz Lightyear and not just the toy version in the Toy Story series. Can't wait to see what the Buzz Lightyear film next year, Lightyear, brings us in terms of callbacks to this show! Channel Art By Jerry Meehan

@ilikethecokev23 years ago I will never understand why Disney didn't give this show the attention it deserves. Especially considering Buzz is one of their most popular characters.
If they ever change their minds and release it on DVD, I'd buy it day one.

@morale.93302 years ago I genuinely wonder what Pixar's opinion on Buzz Lightyear of Star Command is currently, given that their own attempt with Lightyear is tanking and only making people revere the show more and more. 146

@theluigifan13 years ago I remember this show very well, actually. I loved how “Saturday morning” it felt on Toon Disney. It was originally on UPN/ABC but I remember the reruns on Toon Disney a smidgen better. 621

@BrookieSmallz3 years ago I am kind of praying that they go this route. XR was hilarious, Booster was a funny but noble and charming, and Princess Mira Nova was badass (just don't look up google images). 306

@Padon842 years ago Feel bad knowing that after watching the 2022 movie that the show movie Buzz Lightyear of Star Command: The Adventure Begins felt more in line with what it should have been. Also didn't help that one of the plot of the 2022 movie was done better in the 2000 movie. Case in point if you had watch the show/was born during that time, you might not like the 2022 movie. ... 85

@DigimontamerB3 years ago I remember one episode from this show: The Wire Wolf. Because it was the most badass thing I'd ever seen. A robot werewolf that rips technology apart to build its werewolf form. 136

@AmaraLunaeralast year I love this show! And the range of foes was great, it wasnt just all Zurg. PLUS it had an origin for the LGMs too!

@ryanbeyond23523 years ago I remember this! I used to watch The Adventure Begins on VHS at my grandparents house back in the early 2000s. Good times. I also remember renting the PS1 game from my local Hollywood Video as a kid and loving it.
For the Zoomers who maybe don't know this show, it was created by Mark McCorkle and Bob Schooley who went on to create Kim Possible. Their comic timing shows up all over this show particularly with XR.
Also ngl I had a crush on Mira Nova as a kid. Don't judge! lol

@mitchellbanks343 years ago I AM EXCITED! I was kinda pissed off that they announced this film 2 years before it’s release; so now I’ve had wait so long! I was born in 1997 so I definitely remember “Buzz Lightyear Of Star Command”. I didn’t particularly remember any that many episodes seeing that the show went off the air when I was about 4 or 5. The episode I remember the most was the feature long pilot and the episode where his head swelled up like a hot air balloon. The latter sticks out in my brain so much because it was the first time I had ever seen Buzz out of his space suit and seeing that he had a house. ... 3

@tobynobel56712 years ago I remember Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, actually I've never forgotten about it. I have the movie and all 63 episodes which I still watch pretty regularly, as well as quite the collection of Buzz Lightyear of Star Command merchandise. I also have all of the Lloyd in Space episodes, that show aired simultaneously with Buzz Lightyear of Star Command ( at least where I lived ) it always played directly after Buzz Lightyear of Star Command. I always thought Lloyd in Space was great too, I always assumed there would at some point be a crossover, which we never saw.
I have been a Buzz Lightyear fan since I first saw him on screen back in 1995, I was one of those poor 12 year olds who didn't get a new Buzz Lightyear because they were sold out (mentioned in Toy Story 2). I'm really stoked for LIGHTYEAR, been geeking out since it was first announced. I have already stared collecting merch for this as well.
I would love to see something from Buzz Lightyear of Star Command cross over into LIGHTYEAR, even if it's something small like the same Star Command station, or Commander Nebula, anything.
I've noticed some small things like in the trailer Hawthorne tells Buzz nobody ever reads his reports, the same way Darkmatter told Buzz nobody ever reads his reports...
Did you ever notice the cameos in the show like Jon Favreau, Mark Hamill, Ron Perlman, as well as many others?

@SuperGamerxl3 years ago I not only still have the VHS, I also watched the show to an obsessive degree as I was a Buzz lightyear fan as a kid. I hope the show comes to Disney+ as that is a show I'd probably binge purely for the nostalgia. 4

@bird39393 years ago The local skating rink in our town still has characters from the show near the playplace on the wall. It's been a while since I've actually went, but they're most likely still up there. 5

@marvelgeek95775 months ago I enjoy both adaptations of Buzz’s origin. My head canon is that Buzz Lightyear of Star Command is the actual show/movie Andy Grew up watching, and that the new Lightyear is the in universe gritty reboot.
I will say that if I had to choose one, I’d go with BLOSC. I remember watching the movie hundreds of times as a little kid and having a crush on Princess Mira. Though Lightyear still has some charm.

@cowboy87smith33 years ago Back when I was growing up I didn't have cable TV so cartoons on anything else except PBSKIDS was a treat and I remember Buzz Lightyear of Star Command on Disney's 1 Saturday Morning. I also watched the first network television airing of Toy Story 2 on ABC's Wonderful World of Disney now just a weekly movie program that keeps being canceled and then uncanceled since Disney's death in 1966. Sadly no more kid-friendly major network cartoons since 2014. Just reruns of SpongeBob Square Pants, live action young adults sit comes or reruns of long end cartoons. ... 2

@willanderson4063 years ago Love watching the TV show today, and I remember watching a bit of it as a kid, but had completely forgot about it till I saw it mentioned somewhere else some time back. Turns out YouTube has most of the TV shows, and I couldn't believe just how good, humourous, and engaging they seemed to be, and although I barely remembered it gave me joy that they were familiar faces I know I was enjoying as a kid at some point. Even if it was mainly the movie, but I swear I had to have watched the tv show as well back then to some degree ... 2

@D3th10rd3 years ago I'm curious whether they will address any of the animated series' characters or have the movie act as a lead up to a remake of Star Command that has Pixar more involved similar to Monsters at Work and Doug, even though Doug was just a short run. I'm mostly curious to see how much of a connection Buzz and Warp had that losing Warp made Buzz disobey Star Command when they initially try to replace them. ... 14

They got most of the episodes up on youtube if you search for them. Disney takes 'em down but they keep coming back. This show is hard to watch like Gintama because its long and most episodes don't connect to the others. But it is a great time.

@lonergothonline3 years ago I think the lightyear movie will be buzz as a rookie, so he hasn't done his years of academy training. as such he wouldn't actually be a space ranger yet. The other idea I figured they'd go with is to have a test pilot end up getting lost in space or time travelling and ending up being a fish in unfamiliar waters, and that they won't bother acknowledging BLoSC cartoon lore. ... 17

@DigiRangerScott3 years ago Buzz Lightyear of Star Command taught me most about tropes and the status quo. Mira’s Wedding threatened a breakup of the team with an arranged marriage that had other ulterior motives, and once those were exposed Mira stayed with the team. It was the one episode of the show that stuck with me. AND THEN Teen Titans did Betrothed, and because that one BLOSC episode stuck with me, ALL of the dramatic tension was sucked out of it. Don’t get me wrong, Betrothed is still a great, fun episode, but like, how dare? ... 13
