@retrodickie4 years agoThe Panel did this era no favours what so ever. I agree with you Rabbi and think they are going to see what the festive ratings are to see if they jump out that window or not. 6

@RosiG734 years agoThat “panel” was contractual, scripted and prerecorded. Poor Bradley Walsh looked like a hostage being made to read a pro-captor speech that he had to pretend are his own words, If you can read Morse Code, I think he was blinking “help me”. ...12

@macmoore45994 years agoChibnall must find it hard to write. He struggles to cough up 10 episodes every 18 months, he writes maybe 3 production notes for DWM and no extra content. Davies created 13 episodes and a Christmas special yearly, 2 spinoff shows, a show about production, an article every month in DWM and various other things. Moffat created 13 episodes a year and a Christmas special, DWM articles and extra scenes for online and DVD releases. ...7

@madeleine55614 years agoGreat Video Rabbi. I found Walsh's use of the word "Titanic" very ironic. This literally is a sinking ship and I'm only excited for the "festive" special to see how low the numbers are going to be. I've actually written to Tim Davie. (I used his work email as opposed to BBC complaints since we all know what happens there). My email was along the lines of "I used to love Doctor Who but since Chibs and Whittaker took over it's become bitter and dull rather than hopeful and exciting. If it's ever to become popular again they need to go." This was the answer I got Thank you for the feedback, we will pass it on to the team who commission Dr Who. Best regards, Tim The fact that I got an answer from HIM and not a form letter from a secretary or something gives me hope but let me know what you think. I figure as many of us as possible need to write in and let him know. ...3

@andrewburdess41614 years agoIf series 13 is going to be great, as Bradley Walsh suggests, can we take it that Whittaker and Chibnall will have gone? If those two are still involved, there is no way it will be anything but a series of cow pats. 6
@
@autumnmatthews31794 years agoI completely forgot how the finale ended 6
@
@blastfromthepast83444 years agoI wish Marcus Hearn, editor of DWM, would just have the balls to write an editorial saying how disastrous the whole Chibs era has been and how Jodie is personally so unpopular, as the Doctor, that they try not to put her on the cover of the magazine unless they have absolutely no choice! And how the whole Time Lord Vic thing was dreamt up out of sheer desperation in a bid to minimise losses. OK, he'd lose his job, but the magazine will probably be gone soon anyway. ...4
@
@eastlynburkholder35594 years agoHow eager do you think Chibnal and Jodie are to go to work and face their failure? My guess is that both would want to avoid public and not have to work at this. 4

@davidmullen60114 years agoQuestion: Where is Chris Chibnall? Whatever became of the Doctor Who producer...? The last thing I can recall him issuing was that 'Production Notes' many months ago in Doctor Who Magazine, where he was waffling about nothing in particular and how irrelevant the show was compared to the Covid Pandemic, it was noticable in how disinterested he came across in this piece about the series that he is heading. But apart from that piece for the magazine, nothing. Absolutely. Nothing. So if you follow the likely truth that the cast here are contractually bound to do a certain amount of promotional work for any new episode or series where then is the chief writer and Producer, the one the BBC are paying to drive the show? I'm genuinely fascinated at what is going on with this man, he stands on the shoulders of giants - Russell Davies and Steven moffatt - and yet shies away from any publicity or spokesman responsibilities as a Vampire shuns the Suns light.... what is going on here? He is the Producer and lead writer, he is the man responsible for the series and its content, but he feels neither a responsibility or a desire to speak about his work, speak about the content and direction of the series. And the BBC don't find this attitude objectionable...? There's clearly something going on behind the scenes. As I simply cannot conceive of the Corporation being happy with this attitude or this approach from the man. The man they are paying handsomely to head the show. ...7

@taniaedwards47024 years agoI think that the BBC should take advantage of the current pandemic to end Doctor Who. To paraphrase the Ninth Doctor: "Let Doctor Who die. Just let this old programme gather dust. No one wants to watch it. No one will even notice it's gone. Let it become this strange little programme hiding in the corner. And over the years, the world will move on and the programme will be buried." And one day somebody will find it, dust it off and lovingly revive it. ...1

@tenshiigarashi40634 years agoI have a bad feeling that this episode will have two stories... The Doctor in prison for part or most of it and the Dalek invasion on Earth. The companions will via plot device bring back the Doctor and it automatically ends the invasion. END Is a..Chris...I mean "festive special" so don't expect any "good" plot. I don't hate or like Chibnall's Doctor Who anymore. I just don't care ( which is worse). I care so little that I only watched 2 episodes of the last season. Writing a female Doctor is not that complicated. This is a problem of mediocre writing ability and rock level acting ability from the lead. Sarah Jane Adventures had the best female "Doctor". I miss that show and Liz Sladen. ...1

@starsuperion4 years agoComicon, where the biggest and flashiest show is to be put on to drum up interest in the IP you are promoting.. That was not done with Doctor Who.. If they're viewing figures are down, part of the it is the marketing.. But then again, Marketing a pile of steaming shite isn't necessarily going to improve people's interest. Maybe they realized that spending money on the hype given the feedback was a bit too risky?? Maybe they said, screw it. let's save the cash, and just give them what we have, because well we really don't want to be here, but are contractually obligated?? The enthusiasm of the actors, writers, and people involved in this show are so sad. They really must hate what they do!! Just look at them! On the panel, it's like the body language is telling a different story then their mouths!! ...7
