On the night of Sept. 7, 2021, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake rocked southwest Mexico and ricocheted across social media. Online, people posted about strange flashes of light in the sky at the time of the quake. The hashtag #apocalipsis gained traction. What exactly was going on?
