@maralynsmith96573 years ago As a retired teacher, from a white poor background. I do believe that the problem today for working class children from all races is the dumbing down of the curriculum, and lack of discipline in our schools. Proper discipline comes from tough love. You care about every child and you do the very best for them as a teacher and that is by zero tolerance of bad behaviour. The carrot and the stick, but the telling of the pupil why you are disciplining them, that is because you care about how their lives work out and you don’t want them to make a mess of it. You have to teach respect for all and show the children this is expected, and pulling each other to pieces is not to be tolerated. I am a christian ( church of England) background and this is what I believe is missing from education today. You teach that you treat everyone as you would want to bectreated and you do not deviate from this. You are right Candice. In Glasgow we had knife crime and gangs exactly like London today. It is not just one race this happens to, there are other factors at play here. What I believe also is that for people to be violent towards others is that they have not been taught properly at home. That is not to say I am blaming parents because they can only do what they think is the right thing to do, and if they were shouted and sceamed out by their parents then they will do this to their children thinking this is how it should be done, making angry children who strike out without thinking and ruin theirs and others lives. I do believe that Anger Management should be taught in schools as a must. Nowadays expectations are low of working class or single parent households from the management of schools, this I have fought against all my life, to no avail, as it seems no one will care about the children.
I have seen where everything has gone wrong since the 60s and I do believe proper education is the key to everything. The 3 Rs for all kids is a must. We must have them all reading and writing there is no excuse. All children whatever their outward appearance have the capacity for greatness if we teach them kindness, and tolerance, and teach them to love education and see it as a stepping stone to something else. We need to make sure no one is left behind. What I found with the lowest achievers is a giving up, and that is what we need to guard against. They have to be given examples in school of people who have achieved even though they had a disability or found things hard. Hopefully money will be found in uk and usa to fund better and proper education because I believe that is the key. Love and best wishes

@SheenaRea3 years ago Candace, thank you. I'm white and I grew up poor but I had my parents. We were taught the importance of work and getting a good education. I've busted my butt in various jobs until I was able to think of myself as a success. There is no such thing as privilege in my family, except this: we were lucky to have a father who loved our mother, and they stayed together for us kids. ... 67

@Friedbrain113 years ago From the age of 7, I grew up without a father. Instead, I became the "father" figure. My siblings became prosperous and live well in happy relationships. I on the other hand am poor and alone. That is partly because I had no father figure myself to rely on. I am happy that my siblings are well and live well. That is enough. I can say that without a father to lean on it is difficult to become a well-rounded individual. Family is more important than ever in America. ... 223

I remember Mamadu telling me that it pissed him off that black Americans refer to themselves as " African- American", as they're clueless about Africa.

@angztekindustries3 years ago One of my best friends is a beautiful, wonderful and loving (Black, mixed ethnicity) American female who recently became a Mother who like myself, does not subscribe to the woke cultist behavior. She told me the best thing I did was suggest she purchase and read your book Blackout.
On a different topic, I never realized how "White"
I was until everyone around me started reminding me every 5 seconds out here in NYC, even just taking the train from Brownsville Brooklyn, which happens to be the only area "White Privelege" allows me to afford to live while collecting foodstamps.
