On The Newshour Debate, with Navika Kumar, we discuss PM Narendra Modi's talk with several Chief Ministers on Tuesday regarding the rising dangers of Corona in the country and the third wave. The Chief Ministers of Assam, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Tripura, and Nagaland participated. In this meeting, PM Modi said that it is not right to gather considerable crowds in hilly areas, markets without masks and protocols. PM Modi said that some people speak with a tight chest that they want to enjoy before the third wave arrives. But, people have to understand that the third wave will not come on its own. Jasmine Shah, Vice-Chairperson, DDC, says On July 11, only 12 lakh vaccinations took place in India. The Centre created an artificial record for one day. For a city like Delhi, only 15 lakh jabs have been provided for July.

@stormshadow20123 years agoLet's be honest, the statuatory warning on a pack of cigarettes tells us the harm of smoking, yet we do.... The honorable PM talking about the crowds is just like that statuatory warning, what stops him from imposing a strict lockdown nationwide, provide the vulnerable section of society with essentials to stay indoors, have a thorough vaccine distribution plan with the focus on ensuring locations of extreme economic and tourist value are prioritized and then gradually reopen the economy and travel. Looks like we have not learnt anything from the second wave and we are still treating this like some event like jokers ...
