This summer vacation we travelled to Alappuzha, known as Alleppey. It is a city on the Laccadive Sea in the southern Indian state of Kerala. It's best known for houseboat cruises along the rustic Kerala backwaters, a network of tranquil canals and lagoons. It is also called as East of Venice. Backwaters are used for transportation. It is amazing to see the village life style of the people. Enjoyed our trip with nice hospitality and guidance in White House Inn, Mullakal alleppey which is the main center of the Alappuzha town. During our stay we found few delicious recipes. And we tried those recipes in the near by villages in backwaters, Shikara and also in the famous cafe called monkey cafe in Mullakkal. And we would like to share the recipes with you too. Crab roast is one of the dish that's loved by most of the non-vegetarian people in Kerala.It is one of the simple recipe but tastes amazing with the rice. Good for diabetics Along with all other shellfish, crabs are rich in chromium, which helps insulin to metabolize sugar, and thereby lowers the blood glucose levels in the body. All shellfish, including crab, have generous amounts of selenium. Selenium is an anti-oxidant and cancels out the carcinogenic effects of cadmium, mercury and arsenic, which can cause tumors in humans. It has been proved that higher levels of selenium in the blood lead to lower rates of cancer. In fact, lysate, which is extracted from the blue blood of the horse-shoe crab, is used for detection of spinal meningitis and for fighting cancer.
