‘It’s party time in China’: CCP centenary will show off economic and military might

Impending celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party will be a display of China’s economic and military might, according to Asia correspondent Adrian Brown. “In every village, town and city across the country there will be celebrations, there will be millions of schoolchildren pressed into service as they always are on these occasions, and yes it’s party time in China,” he told Sky News Australia. “This is the party that has been around now for 100 years. “China’s leaders believe they have plenty to celebrate, of course there’s plenty they’d rather forget.” Mr Brown said the Communist Party was “not like any other party in the world” and possessed the ability to infiltrate daily lives, industry and even private business. “It is a huge conglomerate, it has tentacles spreading into almost every business and industry in China and increasingly those tentacles are spreading into the private sector,” he said.
